Hello 1974 classmates!!!

Hmmm. what have I been doing since AHS days? I'm having a blast, really, the time of my life. Not every day is fun, but most are. If I get a chance to do something interesting, fun or exciting I normally say YES, so ask me.

Rode all 7 days of RAGBRAI 2019, 313 miles via a human powered bicycle, and the human power was ME! Classmate John Hansen and his bike team stayed with me in Ames for RAGBRAI 2018 and I and my team stayed with John in Indianola in 2019 (Thanks John!). And wow is RAGBRAI fun !!

I joined 3 different dance groups since June 2018, Tango, Swing and Latin which is Salsa and Bachata I just started in Jan 2019. I like Tango and Bachata the best.

I was on a fundraising committee for the Ames Historical Society which just happened and netted close to $10,000, not to mention helping to organize this 45-year reunion.

Photographed 11 ACTORS plays in a row over the last 3 years and painted 2 of the ACTORS sets and one of their outside billboards.

Cross country skied for the first time and shoveled a heck of a lot of snow since moving back from living in California for 9 years. I moved back to Ames in 2013. I estimate I have shoveled close to 10 feet of snow in 6 years, at least it feels like it.

Volunteer regularly at the local Food Bank/Soup Kitchen called "Food at First". Started cooking meals with a friend there at FAF 4 years ago. December 2018 I started Head Cheffing, leading the volunteer crew to make a meal for up to 100 people and have done that 5 times by myself. I also co-chef and organize Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for 1000+ guests every year. Pretty good for having only taken one semester of Boys Foods class at AHS in 1974.

Oh yes, started playing the piano again when I moved back to Ames in 2013. I am getting slightly better. Its relaxing and fun.

Attend all ISU Football and Basketball games and host one tailgate for AHS classmates every year at the Football games.

I have maintained the www.AmesHigh.org website 19 years since 2000.

My 3 kids are all over 30 now. How can that be!! Blake is in Iowa City, Jennifer in Minneapolis and Grant in Ames.

A most wonderful amazing thing in my life is my 6 year old granddaughter Alana, who you see in the photo. She calls and face times regularly and we love spending time together. We play hopscotch (I had to look up the rules on youtube) and we eat candy, and play barbies, and watch "Frozen". She just started 1st grade and I was there that day to watch her go into her 1st grade room. Brought back memories of my own 1st grade at Meeker.
